That’s actually a completely false lead that I don’t believe is true. John Wooden, the Wizard of Westwood, led young men between 17 and 21 years old at the University of California, Los Angeles – UCLA, to 10 NCAA Basketball Championships in 11 years, during one of the most tumultuous generations in American History – the Vietnam War 1964 to 1975.
Wooden was 54 years old at the beginning of his championship run – and was connecting with and leading men who were 37 years younger than him. Not all that different from today’s environment.
